DESCRIPTION
This project proposes to enhance the habitat complexity of Vance Creek by installing large woody debris in strategic locations throughout a selected reach. A series of 2 – 3 engineered log jams will be installed at locations that are currently lacking LWD, pool habitat and overhanging bank structures. Up to 10 individual rootwad stems will also be installed at intervals between the engineered log jams to provide additional bank roughness. Additionally, three single pieces of LWD will be installed downstream of the main project area to create scour pools in the main channel of Vance Creek. The proposed work has been identified in the Vance Creek Study completed by the Bureau of Reclamation and MCD as part of the Skokomish General Investigation.
