DESCRIPTION
Forterra acquired the 131-acre Green Diamond property in fee simple and the 29.91-acre Rasmusan property in both fee and conservation easement on July 29, 2011. The properties feature forested riparian habitat and will provide important protection for salmonids and other wildlife. The grant was first awarded to Forterra to purchase both fee-simple and less-than-fee-simple interest in the Richert property, however an agreement was not able to be reached with the landowners. With the guidance of the lead entity and grant manager, the Green Diamond and Rasmusan properties were chosen as an alternative. Other entities in Mason County have expressed an interest in future ownership, restoration, and management of the properties. Forterra will work with all parties and the Recreation and Conservation Office on any future land transfers.
