The Adventure Salmon Overnight Camp will portray the influence of salmon to the culture of the northwest as well as build a current appreciation for salmon by understanding its role in the ecosystem. This will be achieved through exposure to agency professionals, local tribal members, community resources, fieldwork, history, art, and activities that are geared towards learning and understanding.

A five day overnight camp is being offered to 6th thru 9th graders. This version of Adventure Salmon Camp will begin and end at the Pacific Northwest Salmon Center located in Belfair. Each day and evening will find the campers at different natural settings around the watershed which include state parks and private properties for an experience of story-telling, wilderness appreciation, activities and discussion.

There will be a ceremony of sorts at the start of the journey. It is here where campers will begin to weave the thread which will bind the activities with observation skills and journaling. Each day, the journey will take the campers to different places within the Hood Canal. The campers will experience a variety of habitats from the rivers to the beach and the estuary. They will explore the link of the salmon through the entire watershed.

The final evening will be back in Belfair for a closing ceremony which will complete the thread and give campers an opportunity to share their experiences with the rest of the group and all the parents. We look forward to having you join us on our next adventure.
