DESCRIPTION
The Hood Canal Salmon Enhancement Group in cooperation with North Mason High School and the Hood Canal Wetlands Project Center pulled off another successful day of Environmental Explorations with approximately 600 students at the Theler Wetlands in Belfair. The event featured many different exhibits including a macroinvertebrate, salmon tank, and fish printing station hosted by HCSEG. The event is geared to teaching students about the importance of healthy ecosystems and about the wildlife which inhabit them.
Environmental Explorations is a Hood Canal watershed education program that is funded by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Volunteer Cooperative Program through the Aquatic Lands Enhancement Account (ALEA). The event has been going on for the past six years starting initially at North Mason High School as the location for the event and has moved and evolved to the Hood Canal Watershed Project Center utilizing volunteers, students, and other local and regional partners.
