The Hood Canal Salmon Enhancement Group used this grant to replaced three undersized culvert outlets. The culverts had a 2.5 foot perch. Water velocitiies through the culverts caused stream erosion of undersized gravel, which in turn blocked roadway culverts and created a fish passage barrier. A new 7ft x 3ft concrete box culvert and a 6ft x 4ft culvert were installed. This project opened up 205 acres of mostly undeveloped forested watershed that includes 1 mile of spawning stream.
