DESCRIPTION
The Hood Canal Salmon Enhancement Group used this grant to replace an undersized culvert that created a total fish passage barrier at the crossing of the Little Tahuya River and Belfair-Tahuya Hwy. A larger flat aluminum plate covered culvert was installed along with 18 inches of river cobble to stabilize the substrate during high flow events. This project opened up 4.5 miles of stream passage for rearing and migrating salmonids and 1,529 acres of wetland habitat.
