DESCRIPTION
Our long-term goal for this project is to work with the landowner to replace these two undersized culverts with larger bridges to improve the way water and thus sediment and fish flow through this major blind tidal channel in the Dosewallips Estuary. A time series analysis has shown that this channel has continued to fill in with sediments as a result of the diminished tidal inundation from these culverts, and that though both summer chum and fall chum (in addition to other species) still utilize the system, habitat quantity and quality are less than they could be.
This proposed project would require support from 2 landowners, and will not proceed without their consent.
