This proposal is for a planting project with a goal of establishing salt marsh plants within the West and South Lobes of the West Oakland Bay restoration site. Tasks under this proposal will include procuring native salt marsh plants from nurseries and/or from analog marsh sites, collecting and sowing seeds, establishing nurse-beds as a source of future plant material, planting plugs or transplants, placing brush groins for sediment retention, installing geese exclusion fencing, and other related tasks. This project is within the estuary environment and will focus on establishing salt marsh plant communities. This work will build upon the work done with earlier phases which re-created the salt marsh sediment prism. Target salmonid species relevant to this project include multiple stocks of juvenile Chinook salmon which move through Oakland Bay, and natal stocks of chum and coho salmon.
