DESCRIPTION
Mason County restored fish passage in a tributary of North Fork Goldsborough Creek (Goldsborough Creek basin) west of Shelton, in Mason County, WRIA 14. Restoring fish passage in the Goldsborough Creek / Frontal Puget Sound subbasin is a high priority for fish passage restoration supported by the WRIA 14 Lead Entity and Puget Sound salmon recovery stakeholders. The project corrected the fish passage barrier at Highland Road, Mile Post 0.33 by replacing two undersized (3.3 feet wide and 5.5 feet wide) pipe arch culverts with a single fish passable 19-foot wide by 9-foot high concrete box culvert. Correction of this crossing restored access to approximately 0.8 mile of cold water tributary habitat with good spawning and rearing opportunity for coho salmon, steelhead and cutthroat trout.
