DESCRIPTION
South Puget Sound Salmon Enhancement Group and Mason County propose to restore fish passage at two select barrier culverts in the Coffee Creek drainage (Goldsborough Creek basin), Mason County, WRIA 14. The culvert on the southerly fork of Coffee Creek (under Deegan Road) is a total barrier; that on the West Fork of Coffee Creek (under Shelton Valley Road) is a partial barrier. Collectively, the barrier corrections will open up to 4.2 miles of rearing and spawning habitat for Coho Salmon, steelhead, and Cutthroat Trout.
This funding will complement the package submitted for funding to the Fish Passage Removal Board (FPRB) on behalf of the WRIA 14 Lead Entity. The two selected sites for barrier correction under this proposal are part of the larger seven barrier package forwarded to FPRB. Funds requested herein will be leveraged with the FPRB funding package to complete the funding need.
