DESCRIPTION
The Mason Conservation District, in partnership with Green Diamond Resource Company, is seeking SRFB funding to accelerate restoration and expand on fish passage improvements in the Likes Creek drainage. This project will eliminate all potential anthropogenic barriers to anadromy beginning approximately 900 feet upstream of the fish passage improvement projects on Simpson's railroad and Mason County's Carmen Road; both scheduled for implementation in the summer of 2015. This project will improve anadromous access to approximately 4,400 feet of upstream fish habitat. Funding for this project allows restoration to occur at least a decade sooner than otherwise planned.
The Mason Conservation District, in partnership with Green Diamond Resource Company, is seeking SRFB funding to accelerate restoration and expand on fish passage improvements for Coho, steelhead, and Cutthroat in the Likes Creek drainage, west of Shelton, WA. In the summer of 2016, project activities associated with SRFB grant 12-1459 will restore fish passage to Likes Creek by replacing two fish passage barriers near the confluence with Goldsborough Creek. This proposed project will eliminate three additional impediments to anadromy beginning approximately 900 feet upstream of the already scheduled fish passage improvement projects. This project will improve anadromous access to approximately 4,400 feet of upstream Coho, steelhead, and Cutthroat habitat by completely removing and abandoning three road crossings (the furthest downstream is a known fish passage barrier), and building an alternate access road to prevent the need of installing new structures. Funding for this project allows restoration to occur at least a decade sooner than otherwise planned by the landowner.
