DESCRIPTION
This project seeks to acquire 1,500 feet of Goldsborough Creek (one bank) and 580 feet of a tributary (both banks) on approximately 25 acres of undeveloped timberland near downtown Shelton.
Capitol Land Trust seeks to acquire, through fee title, 1,500 feet of Goldsborough Creek (one bank) and 580 feet of a tributary (both banks) on approximately 22 acres of undeveloped timberland near downtown Shelton, in Mason County, WA. The project will conserve creek shoreline, a tributary stream, riparian habitat, and upland forests with a focus on supporting Coho Salmon, steelhead, Chum Salmon, and Cutthroat Trout. The property has trails used by residents of the nearby neighborhood for recreation and salmon viewing, which would be protected and enhanced under this project through a partnership with Mason County and Shelton Parks Departments. The protected property will benefit ESA-listed salmonids in Goldsborough Creek and also the residents of Mason County as this project expands the recreational opportunities of the community.
