DESCRIPTION
The Lynch Creek Fish Passage Project will remove a partial fish passage barrier and replace it with an adequately sized structure that will allow unimpeded migration of adult and juvenile salmonids, and downstream transport of large woody debris, streambed material, and high flows. The existing pipe is located at approximately river mile 0.5 on a logging road that crosses Lynch Creek in Mason County. Lynch Creek (14.0026) is an independent tributary to Little Skookum Inlet, is two miles in length, and has small runs of coho, chum, cutthroat, and steelhead trout. The culvert was identified during the WRIA 14 Fish Passage Inventory and selected as an eligible and beneficial project under the FFFPP program. SPSSEG will work with a contracted engineer, WDFW and the landowner to develop a solution to the fish passage impediment and road maintenance concerns. This project will restore access to 1.5 miles of spawning and rearing habitat, while reducing the risk of road failure and damage to downstream habitat.
