DESCRIPTION
The project will 1) synthesize existing habitat data and map current estuarine and nearshore habitats in Willapa Bay to support habitat restoration planning and implementation and status and trends monitoring; 2) characterize estuarine and nearshore salmon habitat use, timing, and assemblages in Willapa Bay; and 3) hire and train technicians from the local area through community colleges, conservation districts, and others to conduct the fish use field work and habitat and large wood mapping associated with the above tasks which will build local expertise and capacity to assist with future restoration of estuarine and riverine habitats and support the local economy.
