DESCRIPTION

Remove two concrete weirs (which are 100% fish barriers), install a new properly fish screened intake for landowners existing pond, remove 150 feet of rip-rap along the banks of Green Creek, replant both sides of Green Creek that will be 840' long x 20' wide, install 15-20 pieces Large Woody Debris, install a roughened channel & place 50 cubic yards of streambed gravel. Removing these weirs will open 5.89 miles of fish habitat. In 2002 SRFB funded the Green Creek Culvert Replacement project for $129,000.00. These weirs are 840' from the mouth of Green Creek. By removing these weirs it will provide great connectivity to the project that was completed in the middle of Green Creek. It only makes since to remove the only barrier on Green Creek which occurs at the mouth. There is a possiblity that a private dam will be removed on a tributary to Green Creek, which is the last remaining barrier in the Green Creek Watershed. With the removal of these weirs & the dam it would open 6.93 miles of fish habitat. The landowner is also entering into a CREP riparian planting plan along the Willapa River. The Pacific County Anglers are also working with the surrounding neighbors to educate them about the riparian area to help prevent further riparian damage (bank erosion) from spraying, cutting and dumping of yards debris. The Pacific County Anglers will also be performing the riparian plantings of willow, red osier dogwood, & cedar. The Anglers
