DESCRIPTION
CBFTF is seeking funding to correct a fish barrier on a county road (Schafer Boom Road) at river mile 0.55 of Camp Creek, including some channel realignment and planting. This project would increase access to 5.65 miles of salmonid habitat along Camp Creek which is used by steelhead, coho, and chum. This barrier was selected for correction because it was in the top 5% of all barriers in the Chehalis prioritization list. This barrier scored highly in the prioritization criteria because it is low in the watershed and would provide increase access to important salmonid habitat. Several other upstream and downstream barriers in this system have already been corrected, including a culvert on Hwy 12 being corrected by WSDOT in 2024 as part of the 2013 injunction. This project would replace a 67% passable culvert (6.5' diameter by 36' long) with a bridge approximately sized for the stream flow and future flood conditions (27.5' wide by 39' long).
