DESCRIPTION

The Lewis Conservation District proposed a culvert replacement on this property when it was under private ownership. SRFB reviewers saw greater opportunity for the site including side channel reconnection and riparian planting. Since that time, the parcel has been under negotiation for purchase by Washington State Parks. In public ownership, there could be many opportunities here for restoration. Parks may not want the water right associated with the parcel. A transfer of the water right to permanent Trust for instream flows could be of interest by the CBP's as it could help implement the recently approved Streamflow Restoration Plan. Thus, this could be a multi-benefit project that achieves many different objectives.
