DESCRIPTION
This project will restore over 1000 feet of tidally influenced stream channel and replace undersized and failing culverts beneath the Puget Sound and Pacific Railroad tracks with a modern, aquatic species friendly pathway.
Fry Creek Restoration Lower Reach - Phase 3 will provide the development of final design/construction documents for the the restoration of Fry Creek from the vicinity of Bay Avenue in Aberdeen, 1200 feet downstream to the crossing of Port Industrial Road. The objectives of the restoration are to , restore aquatic habitat, remove fish barriers, and reduce flood risk to adjacent urban areas of Aberdeen and Hoquiam. The project proposes to restore the habitat utilized by both targeted and non-targeted ESU species. The targeted ESU species consist of Coho and Chum salmon and the non-targeted ESU species consist of Bull Trout and Cutthroat. The proposed culverts will be designed to remove restrictions along the creek and will restore fish and wildlife habitat access.
