DESCRIPTION
This project would involve the installation of approximately 1000 feet of flood fence to control logs and debris from flowing onto a farmed field during high water events. In addition, the cottonwood boles will provide future shade and bank protection for the Chehalis River. There will also be a minimum of 5 acres of the stream bank planted under the Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program as match for the flood fence funds. The goal of this project is to protect a farmed field from getting inundated with debris during Chehalis River flood events. We will be installing approximately 1000 feet of flood fence along the river to catch the debris before entering the field. There will be three rows of cottonwood boles installed along the river to create the flood fence. The boles will be 8 feet apart and will be staggered on the second row. In addition, a minimum of 5 acres of trees and shrubs will be planted along the Chehalis River and tributary under the Conservation Reserved Enhancement Program. The distance from the ordinary high water mark on the stream and river will be a minimum of 35 feet and a maximum of 180 feet.
