DESCRIPTION
The Mox Chehalis Habitat Acquisition Project is a fee simple acquisition on Mox Chehalis Creek, east of Capitol State Forest in Grays Harbor County. Capitol Land Trust will use this grant to conserve 6,500 feet of Mox Chehalis Creek, side channels and tributaries, which cross the approximately 169-acre parcel. The property contains Mox Chehalis Creek and associated tributaries, scrub-shrub wetlands, open fields (previously farmed) and steeply sloped coniferous forests. This project supports the recovery of coho, chum, fall Chinook, winter steelhead and cutthroat trout. Following acquisition, future project phases would include significant riparian and floodplain wetland restoration.
