The upcoming Hermison culvert replacement and Historic Oxbow
reactivation and restoration improve access to Hermison Creek and its
associated wetlands for Chinook, coho, steelhead and resident trout. However, a
600 ft stretch of creek has been artificially channelized, resulting in
low-flow/no-flow summer conditions. Surface water in the creek seems to be
diminishing each year due to a lack of groundwater connection and riparian
cover. High temperatures are also a concern and impact the wetlands downstream.
A Stage-0 restoration could restore up to 3 acres of wetland.
