This project involved restoration planning and implementation in Bockman Creek, a Sol Duc River tributary. Bockman Creek is a productive spawning and rearing tributary for fall Chinook, fall coho, winter steelhead, and cutthroat trout, and has been identified as a high priority for restoration. The objective was to improve fish habitat quality through the planning and implementation of process-based restoration methods that create local jobs. This project used field measured habitat data to completed a restoration plan for Bockman Creek and its tributaries, developed a set of restoration design drawing templates for open use, provided final designs for two fish passage barriers, completed 0.35 miles of road storage, and surveyed and treated the Bockman Creek drainage for invasive plant species. No costs were billed to the RCO agreement for the road storage at Worksite #3, therefore that worksite was removed from the agreement. The project timeframe was extended from 6/30/2023 to 11/30/2024 to allow more time to complete the project. This allowed more time for completion of the invasive plant inventories and treatments that took more time due to slow progress in some more difficult access areas of the watershed as well as allowed additional seasons of invasive plant surveys and treatment. The extension also allowed additional habitat surveys to be collected on smaller tributaries within the drainage to field verify conditions in areas with modeled high restoration priority.
