DESCRIPTION
The Pacific Coast Salmon Coalition removed the last blockage between over 2 miles of upstream habitat and the main stem of the Hoh River. This was accomplished by removing two 36" culverts that were perched and replaced it with a 35’, three-sided concrete bridge. The original culvert was 6’ X 4’ X 40’ pipe arch (cmpa) that was rusted through the bottom and had an outlet drop and steep, narrow drop (chute) into the inlet. In the winter of 2009 the culvert and road washed out and two 36" plastic pipes were placed as a temporary measure before the 3-sided bridge was placed. Whole downed trees and woody debris were placed in and around the stream along the project area. The entire project area and the area where the bypass road was located was replanted with native plants and vegetation.
