DESCRIPTION
The North Fork Calawah Road Decommissioning project, completed by the Pacific Coast Salmon Coalition, decomissioned just under one mile of road on US Forest Service ownership, the 020 spur of FS 2922 road, just above the North Fork Calawah River in Clallam County. The work involved removing 8 culverts and pulled back several sections of unstable slope. The decommissioning stabilized an identified unstable section of road above the North Fork Calawah River. This reduced the potential for sediment and debris flows into the North Fork Calawah that would disrupt and destroy critical salmon habitat. The habitat below the site is utilized by steelhead, coho, cutthroat and Chinook for spawning and rearing.
