DESCRIPTION
The Stevens County CD corrected a barrier culvert that is on Clugston Creek, a tributary to Mill Creek and the Colville River. This culvert is upstream of the McMurray and Hennigan culverts and below the Gromme which has been corrected. The .91 meter (3 feet) corrugated steel culvert was a barrier to fish passage as a result of a water surface drop at the outlet. Also there is a large plunge pool which indicates it has high velocities during higher flows which also made it difficult for fish to pass. The culvert was be removed and replaced with a 40' long by 14' wide structural steel bridge that easily spans the whole crossing and allow for easy passage as well as passing higher flows and any materials that might move through the system. There is 9.88 miles of type F habitat gain. There was 4.06 miles of habitat gain to the first total barrier upstream. There are ten downstream barriers and three upstream barriers some of which have been corrected and others scheduled to be corrected. Rainbow trout are present in Mill Creek.
